Welcome to our new wellness hive of activity, complete with wholefoods eatery and coffee shop, online magazine, food styling and photography and catering service. Plus, Eleanor and I have been putting our heads together and we have some really exciting developments in store for spring and summer, including wellness and cooking related workshops, intimate evening gatherings and general community goodness.
We call it Mondays, because it's about new beginnings, fresh starts, AND... real life!
MONDAY is that dreaded day of the week where many of us drag ourselves out of bed, fuel up with caffeine and figure out how we're going to make it through the next five days. It represents for many of us the reality of 9-5 jobs, the pressure of study, parenting, mortgages, paying the bills and all the other repetitious responsibilities that define our beautiful but busy lives.
And in amongst it all, we strive to eat healthily and maintain a decent level of fitness, happiness and mental health. We read self improvement books, follow health blogs and wellness-focused instagram accounts, which often portray gorgeous people partaking in juice fasts, impossible yoga poses and blissing out at meditation retreats in stunning Indonesian locations.
Inspiring, don't get us wrong! But... not always attainable.
We, Eleanor and Hannah, joined forces because we wanted to create a physical place, as well as an online space, for regular people who are passionate about wholefoods and well being. We want to share inspiration and information to our readers; to speak honestly from where we are at, to where you are at. And we reckon it's safe to assume you are not in Bali, but in your home town, working hard and doing the best you can.
Nobody's perfect, we believe it’s all about the little things and taking it one step at a time. Breathe, take it slow, and take your time today to positively improve your life. It may be as simple as deciding to walk instead of taking the bus, to enjoy an extra piece of fruit each day, going to bed an hour earlier, or taking ten minutes each morning to be truly grounded and do something that you are wonderfully passionate about.
We reckon Monday makes an exceptional yard stick for well being. If we can somehow turn the 'worst' day of the week around, so that it's packed full of inspiration, aspiration, gratitude and joy; then imagine what happens to our outlook every other day of the week?! Every one of them would get better, and in turn, our lives become brighter. A life based in wellness is about the little habits we create. As each day passes, our daily intentions help us reach our biggest goals.
We hope that Mondays can inspire you on this journey. We'll share our delicious recipes, health tips, host beautiful wellness events, and partner with wonderful health ambassadors from around New Zealand too. We are passionate about collaboration and community, about healthy, ethical and sustainable food, and about living this precious life to its fullest potential. But most of all we are passionate about you.
