At Mondays we love simplicity. So when we discovered a DIY three ingredient face cleanser we could make in less than a minute, we were pretty excited. You've probably heard that our skin absorbs up to 60% of the lotions, potions, perfumes & soaps we slather on ourselves, so if you wanna make sure you know what's in your products, making them yourself is a great solution.
The key ingredient in this cleanser is castile soap. Made from just olive oil and lye (no drying detergents, synthetic chemicals or animal products like tallow, which show up in so many commercial soaps), it's an affordable, biodegradable and versatile cleanser. Being oil based, it gently foams and cleanses the skin without drying it. It gets a rich lather without the surfactants, the skin feels clean after washing, and even moisturised. The antiseptic and anti-fungal properties of tea tree make it perfect for pesky acne. Here's the clincher, once you make this, you'll realise that all foaming face cleansers you can buy are basically 75% water, so you'll never buy store bought again!
