The middle of winter isn't always fun. The precious daylight hours are spent inside, maybe in a house, an office or a classroom, and by the time we get home nighttime has descended ~ 5pm feels like 10pm! But with a little creativity we can brighten up even the gloomiest days of winter...
Boost your immune system and fight off flu and gastro bugs with anti-parasitic herbs from your garden and pantry. Great for soothing sore throats and relieving digestive discomfort.
This gorgeous recipe by Eleanor Ozich features in the Mondays Journal Issue 3. Perfect for your little one's lunch-boxes. Light and chewy, these muesli bars take only minutes to make and are easily adaptable. We added cacao nibs for a chocolate chip crunch, although most types of dried fruit would be equally delicious. Next time you feel inspired to get your bake on, whip up a few batches to pop in the freezer, you will thank yourself later!

Recipe & Photography by Shaye Woolford If you live in New Zealand, then likely you or someone you know has a tree in their backyard that has already begun to rain Feijoas! These indescribably delicious Autumn fruits are simply the best in smoothies, muffins, crumbles, or straight off the spoon. We're celebrating Feijoas at Mondays Eatery this week with Feijoa, pear & parsnip gluten free muffins & our new (and insanely delicious!) Autumn Orchard smoothie. This week on the blog, beautiful Shaye Woolford shares her cherished family recipe for Feijoa & honey spice cake, the perfect companion to a mug of tea. By Nicola Galloway I made this simple natural deodorant from a handful of ingredients I found in my kitchen pantry and bathroom cupboards. It features in the Mondays Journal Issue #3 alongside many other gorgeous recipes.
This creamy and vibrant dip featured in our Mondays Summer Journal, but it's earthy tones of rich root vegetable, garlic and thyme make it a great comfort in the winter months too. Enjoy alongside seeded sourdough and a glass of wine for a blissful afternoon treat.
Good afternoon! How wonderful would a fruity sparkling beverage be in this hot and sticky weather! There are so many syrups and cordials on the market now, designed to add flavour to sparkling or soda water, but we find it hard to find any that aren't laden with refined sugar! Homemade naturally sweetened cordials are a great alternative. This lovely honey, berry and lavender cordial recipe features in the Mondays Summer Journal, contributed by our friend Greta Kenyon. We love her edible flower ice cubes too! You can get creative and come up with your own flavours and adjust sweetness and strength to suit your palette.
Summer's finally here to stay and with the change of season we farewell our Spring menu. It was such a beautiful menu with so many delicious dishes! So instead of burying all the recipes in the back of the recipe folder, we thought we'd give a few of the favourites a blissful retirement here on the blog, for you to enjoy at home.
